Moree On a Plate

Moree on a Plate - Food, Wine and Arts Festival

Moree on a Plate is a Food, Wine and Arts Festival held in Moree. It is a festival of flavour where people can experience the best of Moree and the Region’s produce in one location.

The 2013 festival will be held on Saturday 4th May 2013.

In previous years the weekend has been launched with Art Exhibitions at The Moree Plains Gallery and Moree Gallery, in 2006 the local book launch of Sam and Jenny Bailey’s book Head Over Heels, and in more recent years fantastic bands from Sydney have entertained the crowds.

On the Saturday over 50 food & wine producers from the New England North West Region gather to showcase and sell their quality products to the public. There is a range of products available including regional wines, olives, oils, gourmet pasta, beef, goat, pecan nuts, yabbies, berries and a variety of herbs, spices and relishes. The promotion of local products is brought to life by offering cooking classes with a celebrity chef. We have been privileged to have had some wonderful chefs in the past and for 2012 we are working at securing another renowned chef and many talented local chefs to promote the region.
Moree On a Plate is promoted as a day for the whole family. Kids Korner provides entertainment and activities for children of all ages, and is a fund raising avenue for all the schools and community groups in Moree. Moree On a Plate offers a variety of free activities for all to participate in, from seminars to demonstrations and a variety of other activities.

Over the past festivals Moree On a Plate has attracted over 5000 visitors each year, with an estimated 7,500 in 2009 and 6,000 in 2010. From survey results collected in 2010, an estimated 21% of visitors were from further than 400km away, staying for up to 3 nights and spending approximately $120,000 in our district.

Moree on a Plate, through raffles, ticket sales and donations has returned over $40,000 dollars back into the community. The local schools, sporting and community groups have raised in excess of $15,000 and Moree On a Plate Inc. has donated to the community:

2012 - $2000 to the Moree Early Intervention Service
2010 - $3300; 2009 - $3000; 2008 - $2200 to the Moree Hospital

2006 $7000 Integrated bedside patient monitoring for the High Dependency Unit at the Moree Hospital
2005 $1500 Renal Unit
$1500 Moree Plains Regional Art Gallery
2004 $5000 Birthing Beds for the Maternity Unit at the Moree Hospital

We plan that Moree On a Plate will continue to grow and develop as well as giving visitors an opportunity to experience Moree at its best. It is a vital link in promoting the most productive agricultural shire in Australia along with The Moree Spa Baths, galleries, golf course, businesses and retail sectors. We are determined to use this event to enlighten the spirits of the community and provide exhibitors an avenue to promote themselves and their product.
